I guess I'm SUPER late commenting on this episode but if anyone happens to read this -- I bought an upgraded Mac in 2015 and it's been GREAT. I'm not one to really build a computer, but I spent a ton of money at the beginning to "future-proof" it and it still holds up to the newer ones. You can upgrade it from the standard version on Apple to have more RAM, higher processing power, etc.

I wouldn't recommend the 2017 Macs right now (I have one for work) because they feel kind of cheap (and mine is currently kernel crashing regularly -_-), but the next ones coming out might have fixed some of the bugs. And a lot of people think that desktop is the only/best way to do video editing, which they are more powerful, but I have always edited on a laptop and if you get a fast one it works pretty well!
