THIS EPISODE'S ALL ABOUT ME!

My apologies to everyone (including myself) who submitted questions to be answered on the Tube Hundredth episode. I don't think any of us knew it was an "all-or-nothing" proposition for answering questions. However, considering the r-e-c-o-r-d-i-n-g difficulties that Josh and Kevin had, maybe it was good that they put off question answering for another week.

There was one time when they had some difficulties with a "lost episode" before on the Inner Tube (check out episodes 4 & 5 of TIBAOJD):

Wow, that's a lot of episodes. Thank you, Josh & Kevin (and, in part, the small child), for making such a great podcast. I've been listening since around #75 (but somehow missed *both* listener surveys?), and it's just gotten better.

I never really found the Innerside Jokes to be much of an issue when I started listening. I probably just thought "Okay, well, I *think* this is funny? And maybe if I keep listening to this, I'll understand why it's funny?".

A couple of old bits I enjoyed:
- The intro of #79 (http://www.innertubeshow.com/episodes/079-is-your-script-too-long-is-your-vlog-too-long-how-do-you-handle-your-online-presence)
- Episode #76 (http://www.innertubeshow.com/episodes/076-how-do-you-maximize-editing-efficiency-when-should-you-take-a-podcasting-hiatus-should-you-set-up-an-llc) was a really fun episode. "Just the two of us."

There's a lot of episodes I haven't heard (around #25-#55, some around #110?). Anyone here binge-listened from the start?

Maybe Jeff Ross knows this: What's the origin of "You would."? I don't think that joke has been used in the past while (maybe it has and I wasn't paying attention).

When I started listening to the show, hearing all of the references drove me to go back and listen to every single episode because I felt that otherwise I was "missing out" on important information. It was much easier to do that 100+ episodes ago.

You definitely want to listen to the episodes around 110. They are some of the best. As for the 25-55 range, some highlights include the 48 Hour Film Challenge that Adler credited in Episode 180 as having propelled his career (you may want to listen to the unedited video versions of Episodes 026 & 027 from the SGK channel,), six of my original favorite 25 episode intros (Episode 025 is the highest ranked at number tube on my list, which you can find posted in the Inner Tube Community), the shortest Inner Tube episode ever, and the only Inner Tube blog.

Fun fact: Episode 076 may have been the episode that originated WWKWHD. I'm still researching it, but I do know that Josh had forgotten how the joke originated by the time Episode 081 was released.

As for "You would.", I cannot say that I was cognizant of that being an Innerside joke, so I don't know its origins at this time. I'll add it to my list of "things to look into".

I think it's an Innerside joke. Kevin would be explaining that he ended up doing something specific, and Josh would just say "You would", in about the same tone as "He really did".

Maybe I'm misremembering and it's from something else entirely.

I am trubely honored that Josh & Kevin would promote my work on the Innerside Joke definitions in the Tube Hundredth episode. Here is some extra commentary from me concerning the project:
1. I am not the first person to think that compiling a list of Innerside Jokes was a good idea. See: https://theinnerjokes.wordpress.com/ That was promoted back when the Inner Tube had an active Facebook page. Fans were supposed to e-mail Johanna Martin innerside jokes at "innerjokes@gmail.com" and the blog would house the definitions. Just over tube years later, that blog still sits almost dormant, but we finally have a list of some definitions here on the website. That's tube years that someone else could have written the definitions down and no one did.
2. I did consider having backstory information for each Innerside joke, but compiling that would not have allowed for the project to be finished in time for Episode 200. I can work on it for another time, but I don't want to discourage anyone from listening to every single episode to find out for themselves.
3. I never intended for my list to be "every innerside joke ever". I debated whether to make a list of the top 10, 16, or 20 most significant Innerside Jokes that I could define, and I ended up with 20. Here are the omitted disclaimers from the joke definitions that I originally submitted (they provides context, but are non-essential for the website tab, which is why they were not included with the final definitions):
"There are many, many inside jokes and references on the Inner Tube podcast, to the point that new listeners may struggle to understand why Josh and Kevin phrase things the way that they do. While it is impractical to explain every attempt at humor that has ever been made on the podcast, understanding some of the key recurring references can make initial listens to the Inner Tube much more enjoyable. Below are twenty of the most common and significant jokes and references, along with their definitions:"
"Knowing these references should make listening to the Inner Tube much more enjoyable. Note: these lists are not comprehensive, and it is normal for even the most knowledgeable Inner Tube listeners to not “get” all of the allusions that Josh and Kevin make in an episode."
(The conclusion said "these lists" because I originally wrote two other lists of significant people and key outside influences that affect the conversation style on the Inner Tube before narrowing it down for the sake of practicality.)
4. In case something happens to my list, I would like to point out that within this episode, Josh did not read all of the definitions I wrote. Instead, he chose sometimes to talk about the jokes by paraphrasing the definitions. I don't think that's a problem, it's an artistic decision, but it did affect how Kevin responded to the prompts. One of my favorite parts of the classic Inner Tube is hearing Josh read what a listener has written and hearing Kevin respond, so I wanted as much of that as I could. I'm not going to stop being a fan just because I didn't agree with an artistic decision.
5. Thanks to Corban for facilitating this project and setting up the website tab for it. Thanks to Josh for reviewing my definitions and correcting one that I was mistaken on. Thanks to Kevin for promoting the list on the Inner Tube Community. Thanks to Josh and Kevin for not giving up on this episode just because the episode was erased the first time. Thanks to God for the gifts of life, time, hearing, sight, language, and memory to facilitate the completion of this project. Thanks to you, dear reader, for your support of the Inner Tube.
Bonus Fun Fact: Kevin's donkey reference is up to 1 Samuel 8:16 now.

*3. I forgot to mention that my list of 20 was derived from a preliminary list of about 40 Innerside Jokes. There are plenty that I didn't write definitions to, but I had to narrow things down in order to get this project done in time for Episode 200.
(There was a certain other project that I was working on during the same time frame as this one...which has since become Aux Cable Episode 037.)

Guys! You forgot any word ending in “oo” to turn it into “ube!” And the one about people coming up to you all the time on the street asking “Kevin, how do you do it?”
