174: The Problem with Being Preachy

7/4/2017

Today we discuss the problem of preachiness in storytelling, and why we’d rather hear a well-told story we disagree with, than a poorly-told story that confirms our biases.

As a warning, we talk about a number of films in this episode and spoil some of them, including Inside Out, Ex Machina, Arrival, John Q, Up, Contagion, The Dark Knight, and probably a few others.

Before it’s over, we also discuss our own experiences in storytelling– Kevin with his work on The Ceiling Fan podcast, and Josh with his work on the YouTube series Brother Brother Time.

I didn't know a third season of BBT was in the works! Looking forward to it, whenever it happens. (Not to put any pressure on you though, I know how long everything in the process can take.)

This post is really so nice is the regarding the preachy and many people are afraid to gain your right. Many episodes are relenting to real life and also help to do your work. Good people are understanding the meaning of every episode and most people just enjoy the episode.
