We go in depth about dealing with sponsorships. In a lot of ways, it’s easier than it looks! It’s just all about getting that first deal.

We also discuss whether or not it’s possible to host a podcast online for free. TUBE much fun, this week on The Inner Tube!

On the topic of cheap podcast hosting, I've been using the free Seriously Simple Podcast plugin for Wordpress software for my podcast Hardwick Sound. Of course, this only works if you already have a website that is running Wordpress. Still, with pretty cheap web hosting plans available, it seems to be a pretty decent solution. My brother has been using Pinecast for his podcast. He pays only $5 a month and seems to be satisfied with the results.

Note that you can't obtain extra Wordpress plugins without having a paid Wordpress plan.

That's true, but WordPress software is typically available for free through servers with cpanel/Softculous. Again you would already have to have a domain on a server, but if you are going to have a website for the podcast anyway, it's a pretty simple solution. Thanks! Caleb

You can publish on you tube. People listen to podcasts there, but that does not let them download. Publishing with google drive is a good option. I have used it in a couple of applications and it does what you need. But really if you are going to try to build an audience, get a cheap hosting plan for a few months and see how it goes. Happy podcasting!

The main issue with Google Drive is that only people with Google accounts can access it. Granted, that's not going to be an issue for most people, but it will be with some.

From what I understand, soundcloud is free up to 3 hours. That's enough to try several episodes and see if you like it before getting the better soundcloud plan or lybsyn or something.

If Josh and Kevin are going to continue to reference their clothing on a non-video podcast, then they should just take a creative picture of themselves every time they record and post it to Josh's photo blog (either right away or just before the podcast episode is released). That will save Corban time in finding a link, satisfy the fans' curiosity as to what Josh and Kevin are discussing, and it will give Josh an opportunity to promote his photo blog. That would be a win-win-win situation. B-)

That's a good idea! Alternatively, they can just start a video podcast about fashion, called Who Would Build the Robes? :D

Whoops! I was a day tube late for my tech savy young guy response to be a Thursday response. Oh well!

I hear you are able to host on Archive.org. I read somewhere that you may have to make the podcast be Creative Commons, but I just uploaded a file and it seems to work without a license just fine.

You can get the direct link there so you can put it into an RSS feed. I'm not sure how to get it automatic, but hey, it's free audio hosting!

I have a friend that used to host his podcast on Archive.org and it wasn't ever taken down or anything, so I assume it'll work. I may be proved wrong, though, if anyone has researched it more closely than I.

Oh, and there's Kiwi6 as well. I used it a lot back in 2011 and my files are still there (though it threatens to delete them every year since I have 0 activity on the website anymore). It allows direct linking as well. Though, I have no clue how much space is allowed there.

As someone mentioned, Kiwi6 is your way to free podcasts. I have several shows running through Kiwi6 (which also gives me what I need for iTunes) and it took 3 years for me to run out of room (with a weekly show at ridiculously high quality). Now that I realized I don't need it at such high quality, it lasts even longer.
