Mason, could you potentially push #caseforkumquat in Youtube comments?

Most definitely...

Okay, sweet. I'm going to be really excited if we succeed in this venture... one small step for man, one giant leap for TOPHAT!

TOPHAT - Taking over the world, one podcast at a time, est. 2016... 2017?... I don't remember...

I think it's 2017. There's only one comment on the most recent episode of WWBTR, you want to have a staged debate or something?

Mason M.
4/22/2017 02:09:54 pm

Depends... That one comment is mine... What shall we debate about... The quality of cheese in the US?..

Josiah the Carrot Stick
4/22/2017 02:43:17 pm

How about the quality of cheese in a stateless society?

Mason M.

Sounds arguable...

Okeydoke, let's do it! You want to start? I have no idea where we're going with this...

TROOOOOOB! Also, I need a loop of Jordan saying "It's going to be okay."

I checked out your channel, Mercer, courtesy of Corban's shownotes. I thought that it was really neat of Liberty Film Crew to do an episode of the "Mercer & Mogilevsky Show" about Josh and Kevin's work just before the release of this episode to help capitalize on the "Inner Tube Bump". I don't know if that timing was planned or not, but it was optimal. One detail from that video: You accidentally asserted that Josh and Kevin are anarchists, instead of distinguishing between what Josh and Kevin believe vs. the thought experiment that is "Who Would Build The Roads". Otherwise, great video.

I skimmed through your channel and watched the interview with Josh Taylor as well as the reaction/critique video of it. Really fun to watch fellow fans of this podcast handle the pressure of interviewing someone we all look up to. :) Only trube fans such as yourselves would gasp and gape at Josh's announcement, be mocked by Josh in the moment for doing so, and then react with more excitement that Josh was engaged in the interview, rather than reacting with offense or embarrassment from having Josh point out the reaction. It was also neat that the critique video strove to provide constructive feedback rather than just poking fun. Great set of videos, and I will have to check out more of your content.

First, Jordan, you can learn all about the "Up to 16 now" Innerside joke in the comments to Episode 161 of the Inner Tube. No need for Josh to be giving me your number just so you can learn about another number. :)

Second, Josh, in Episode 161 you said that you had lost 8 lbs over the previous six weeks, so congrats on losing tube more pounds during the past tube weeks! :D

Third, I know that I may meet people someday who only know me from my Inner Tube comments. I also realize that I may incite awkward encounters for other guys named "Jeff Ross" who don't listen to or comment on this podcast. ("Jeff Ross" is a relatively common name.)

Fourth, Corban, you did a stellar job with the show notes for this episode! Having the links to the specific Blimey Cow videos that the Taylor brothers referenced so that I didn't have to look them up made me very happy. The lightning symbol was also a nice touch.

Fifth, I think Jordan is telling the trubth about Josh and Kevin making all kinds of Inner Tube references even when they aren't on the show. Case in point: The SGK Movie Night Bargain Bin review of "I Beheld His Glory" featured a couple references to "a horse costing more than a donkey", which was how they responded to my question in Inner Tube Episode 160. It came about when I used the Innerside joke of using "donkey" to signify the end of a list of things (like my list of questions). Consequently, Josh and Kevin were talking in a non-Inner Tube setting and making an Inner Tube reference that had spawned from another Inner Tube reference. That's how far this show has infiltrated Josh and Kevin's relationship, where even some of the references have references. No wonder Jordan was #Innertimidated. (I think that's more catchy than "InnerTubeTimDated", and I think catchy may be important since this may be a recurring concept in future episodes. I think "Innertimidated" is what would Kevin would have said, but I'll let him verify that himself.)

One thing to add: I didn't realize when I first listened to this episode that Josh and Kevin had already explained the "up to 16 now" reference to Jordan the last time he was on the Inner Tube. Check out Episode 116, the 5:22-6:37 mark. While not as comprehensive as my Episode 161 comments, it gets the job done pretty well.

in episode 155, Kevin did you the curtesy of recording some audio of him for you to play when he isn't there and you didn't even bother to put it in this episode!
(timestamp 9:45)
Not surprised, you even said you were going to forget.

Actually, John Paul, Josh didn't forget about the clip. He e-mailed me last week to ask for where he could find the clip, and I replied with the time stamps on the same day. (The whole conversation around the clip is from 8:20-12:47 of Episode 155, with the specific audio to be found from the 9:34-10:35 mark.) Josh e-mailed me back the next day and thanked me for finding it. Because I found it so promptly, he poured compliments on me in this episode.

Why didn't he use it in this episode? I'm not sure. I'm guessing he didn't feel that it fit very well with the narrative of Josh and Jordan riding in a car on a family trip. I'm sure he will explain why he withheld the clip at some point, perhaps even in the next episode.

By the way, it's spelled "courtesy".

Yeah that's what happened. I figured it wouldn't fit since we ended up recording it while in the car. We were originally going to record this episode in our studio.
