You spoke about LEGO Stop-motion communities, and, not to advertise or anything (even though it looks like I am), there's a community of brickfilmers on http://www.BricksInMotion.com. I joined a few years ago and have learned a lot in the craft. Technically it's for ages 13 and up, though (like most websites).

But yeah, youtube is a great place to go with stop-motion. There's a community there, though, it's kinda hard to find everyone there. But with sharing things on social media and making good vids and being a good community member, recognition comes.

I too agree that stop-motion is great for learning camera and lighting stuff.

And yes, Josh & Kevin, most people animate in 12 or 15 frames per second. I personally animate in 12 but a vast majority film in 15 because it's a good balance of smoothness and time consumption. Some people are crazy and do 24fps, but I can't do that (mostly because the movements are wwwaaaayyy too small! :P )

I always thought it was INSANE that animators drew cartoons frame by frame until I started doing stop-motion, then I realized that it's so rotten rewarding, haha.

I love discussion on stop-motion, it makes me happy since it's so fun for us insane types.

Keep yelling at the walls, guys.
