Ok. Can I please say that DAVINCI RESOLVE is amazing. Please. It's very very good, and the newest version is free and just great. Please just try it BEFORE buying creative cloud.

You know, I downloaded this a long time ago and forgot to try it out. I'll download it today at work and edit a video on it. If it's good, I will recommend it on the next podcast. Thanks for the input.

Sorry for my burst out here and on twitter.... Thanks for trying it out :) I just felt really appreciative that you mentioned it a while back as a good free editor, and since I found it to be adequate, I thought it was definitely worth the consideration. Thanks!

I was thinking about Resolve too? But, I hear the learning curve is huge and it hard on your computer. Is this true?

Well, it is rather hard on your computer. I will give it that. however, there are details in articles that teach you how to reduce strain while editing. I actually edit on a macbook air, so... yeah. You can guess how THAT goes. But I actually get great performance. I just have to edit in a lower resolution and then bring it back up to 1080p before I export.

I know you guys like Adobe's CC, but 599.99 a year is a lot of money. Especially when there are alternatives for basic video editing. For my youtube channel, I used Cyberlink PowerDirector. It costs $100, but once paid, I can use it for many years. However, it's not great. It is extremely sluggish. It is also a fairly basic editing software.

There is also a new free alternative. And by new, I mean a free version has been recently released. HitFilm 3. It is alot less sluggish than Powerdirector. It also seems to have slightly more advanced editing features.

What I am using now though is... Adobe's CC. I work for my Dad's company, and I needed Adobe's sweet to create videos and graphics for advertising. Adobe CC is the best. But to just start out, I think the previous alternatives may be worth looking at. Unless of course you can convince your Dad to by it as a business expense. ;)
